Little You - A Mother’s Day Memory
Donna Lee and Dale Reeves
Mother’s Day has come and gone. But it’s never too late to give credit where credit is due. Thank you Mom for the Godly example you are. You are truly a Proverbs 31 woman.
I treasure one story about you in particular.
Once upon a time in a little country church near Almena, Kansas, one little lamb ambled away during Sunday service.
Sitting next to your mom and Daddy, you caught Granny’s eye on the other side of the church. Her familiar bonnet framed her face, and she motioned with her hand to come sit beside her. Without hesitation, Little You got up and walked down the aisle. Your small shoes making a big sound on the hard wood floor.
The preacher stopped mid-sermon, staring. The sight of Little You interrupting the sermon drew the attention of everyone in the small sanctuary. And some chuckles too.
No sooner had you come forward unannounced, were you rounding the corner of the front row. Non-plussed you look up at the man in black and continued where Granny was seated. She saved a space beside her just for Little You.
Daddy’s blue eyes sparkled with laughter at his bold Little You. And your mother, a country schoolteacher, was not entirely approving of the sudden seat change.
Years later Little You walked down the same aisle with the same boldness and assurance in your step. And gave your life to Jesus.
