The Road to Damascus

A Prophetic Word from 2/7/2026

What road are you on?

The one most traveled?

My servant whom I called was on a road.

That’s where he met Me.

Perhaps you’ve read about the dramatic encounter Saul had with the Lord, beginning in Acts 9:3.

As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?”

And he said, “Who are you, Lord?”

Then the Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.”

Isn’t it interesting how the Lord encounters us? Where has he stopped you? Consider that for a moment. Certainly, He has revealed Himself to you.

In Saul’s case the Lord was about to mess with his chili big time.

Saul, a Pharisee and teacher of the law. Articulate. Zealous. Persecuting believers. Saul encountered the Lord in such a way that the Bible says when he arose from the ground, and opened his eyes; he saw no one. He was blind.

Today voices clamor for attention and subtly try to hide the source behind the words and pictures we hear and see every day. It’s not all social media broadcasting from various channels or platforms either. But consider the music we hear while shopping at stores, the chatter at work. Even the thoughts in our own head, and pictures that come to the forefront of our mind’s eye without invitation.

Who does that? Who would come in without knocking?

The enemy.

The serpent asked Eve in the Garden of Eden, did God really say that? He planted a seed of doubt and she ate the fruit of deception.

The Bible has a lot to say about snakes.

John the Baptist said in Matthew 3:7 (NKJV), But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, “Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

That’s harsh. But even Jesus said, “Serpents, brood of vipers! How can you escape the condemnation of hell?” (Matthew 23:33 NKJV) Further in Romans 3:13 (NLT) we read, “Their talk is foul, like the stench from an open grave. Their tongues are filled with lies. Snake venom drips from their lips.”

Just as snakes in the natural can choke and strangle its victims, so in the spiritual realm we see how a religious spirit can apply a choke hold too. But for every spiritual problem, there is a spiritual solution.

Let’s circle back to Saul. The Lord had Saul continue to Damascus where one of his disciples, Ananias, prayed that Saul receive his sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit. “Immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he received his sight at once; and he arose and was baptized (Acts 9:18 NKJV).

Saul’s vision was not only restored, but he received deliverance. Where he had been physically and spiritually blind and bound, he was now loosed.

Isn’t that interesting that what fell from his eyes were like scales? Snakes have scales.

Afterward its recorded, “So when he had received food, he was strengthened. Then Saul spent some days with the disciples at Damascus. Immediately he preached the Christ in the synagogues, that He is the Son of God (Acts 9:19-20 NKJV).

Quite simply, Saul became a new man.

Imagine. Just one encounter with the Lord can set you on a new path. It can send you in a different direction of His design. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, “but small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it” says Matthew 7:14 (NIV).

What road signs are you paying attention to? Perhaps some signs you may have overlooked? Or even dismissed? If He has been drawing you, it’s time to take a detour and get back on the right road, because “He will lead you in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake” (Psalms 23:3).

Pray:

Father, I come to seek You, and Your divine will for my life. I ask for wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and discernment.

I pray that every lie, trap, and snare of the enemy be bound, broken, and come to no effect. Every scheme of the enemy I command it to be exposed and brought down to nothing. No act of the enemy can delay or sabotage Your plans and destiny for me. For you have recorded these in my book according to Psalms 139:16.

Where the enemy has come against me, I ask that Your righteousness abound and Your manifold Presence in my life disrupt and wreak havoc on the enemy and his plans.

I thank you for multiplying Your grace and peace unto me. I ask You open doors of favor in my life that cannot be closed; and that you use me mightily to forward Your Kingdom work, where you have placed me.

Father, may You be lifted up and exalted. That You receive all the glory for doing exceedingly abundantly more than I can ask or imagine. I pray that Your Spirit work through me to take back territory and possess the land just as you did for Jabez.

In Jesus holy name I pray.

Amen.
