![]() Ever felt dissatisfied and unfulfilled in your job or in your walk with the Lord? You feel you are doing that which is not really what’s in your heart to do. You find you are a square peg in a round hole. You think you are in the wrong job. You think your boss isn't recognizing your talents and giving you the right opportunity. You think you need to break free from the place you are in. Though all of that can sometimes be true, often times the root of the issue is much deeper. Something happened when you got born again. A great miracle took place when you received the Lordship of Jesus Christ into your life. The spirit in you which was lying dead for all those years suddenly came alive by the grace and power of our Lord. You cannot satisfy your spirit by temporal worldly success. The spirit was created by God and carries the nature of God because you are created in His own image. Your spirit seeks eternity and for things that are of eternal value. True fulfillment of your spirit comes only from that which is of eternal value. That’s why you feel more alive when you are ministering to the poor or the needy. You feel glad when you are able to help someone in need. You feel fulfilled when you have just done a noble thing for someone in despair. People called to preach or teach find themselves more alive when they are ministering the Word to those hungry for more of God. Jesus said “It’s more blessed to give than to receive. Acts 20:35 “I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ You can be fasting from food a few days and yet feel full and satisfied when you are pouring out your life to make someone else’s life better. I dare you…..skip lunch for a day, go out on the streets of India, pick a hungry child from the streets, take him or her to a good restaurant and feed the child. Just sit there and watch the smile on the kids face, look at the contentment and gratitude and tell me….you weren't satisfied! You could easily skip a meal and yet feel full and satisfied. Jesus was hungry and sent his disciples to get some food. In the meantime He ministered to the Samaritan woman by the well and later on told his disciples that He had had food to eat about which the disciples knew nothing about. Read John 4: 5-32 John 10:10 “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. That abundant life is only possible when your life is not about you, but when you pour it out for others. The impact that the apostle Paul, Peter and the other early disciples had on the world was spectacular. They were referred to as the men who had turned the world upside down. Why? Their lives were not about getting prosperous and their messages were not about God’s blessings on their lives, how they got out of debt and how God miraculously did this or that, but about the Lord Jesus Christ being our Savior from the curse of the Law and from the wages of sin. It was the good news of finding freedom in Christ. This message had the power to heal, to cast out demons and to perform miracles. When this message was preached, signs and wonders followed. This new found liberty then dramatically “transformed” the early believers. It was not just a behavioral change, but an inward transformation. They became more outward focused. They sold all they had, they shared their possessions with those who had little and there was equality. There was love, care and respect for one another. Have you seen this amongst Christians today? If not never, it’s very rare for sure. But this did happen. It’s in the bible. We can’t just dismiss that passage off from the bible as a hallucination by the writer. We as Christians are meant to be living our lives more for others than for ourselves. Look around you friends. Use your resources to make someone else’s life better. It is indeed more blessed to give than to receive. I challenge you, try adopting a child through Tear Fund or World Vision or many other similar organisations. Give into the Microenterprise program or donate to COME Ministries. See lives transform. See communities change because of your personal involvement. Then tell me if you are dissatisfied or fulfilled. I submit to you, your profession is your provision for your vision. Whatever your job may be, it is your provision for your vision. You will not find true fulfilment in your boss recognizing your gifts and giving you the right opportunity. True satisfaction doesn’t come by trying to fit in or finding a new job. Your spirit will find true fulfilment and satisfaction in serving God, serving people and making a difference in someone else’s life other than yours. Your profession is your provision for your vision. |

NuggetsTrue freedom is freedom from self-centeredness. Dying to yourself, your wants, your desires and to what gives you pleasure for the sake of others is more liberating than you think. |
